Florian Wirtz, the German midfielder for Liverpool, is still searching for his first goal in this season's Premier League. However, his performance in the away match against Bournemouth (1-0) pleased the Reds' manager Andoni Iraola.
The midfielder played a key role in the only goal of the game: it was his touch that set up Alexander Isak to find the back of the net. Wirtz worked hard off the ball before being substituted in the second half.
The Spanish coach shared his thoughts on the midfielder’s display during a post-match interview with Sky Sports:
We had a slow start. Right from the off, the opposition pressed us hard, and we struggled to find our rhythm, particularly in central duels. After that initial period, we improved, and Florian did a great job helping us adapt.
In the second half, he performed significantly better, finding spaces to receive the ball and facilitate our attacking play. We perhaps lacked that final pass or decisive moment for another goal, but I was much happier with Florian's performance in that second half compared to his previous outings.
