As the summer transfer window approaches its deadline, Premier League clubs are making crucial moves to release players and manage their financial operations for significant signings.
Cameron Winstanley has spotlighted six transfer chains that could light up the market before the window slams shut:
Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) → Bradley Barcola (PSG): The Merseysiders are prepared to consider selling the 27-year-old Dutchman for £70 million to Manchester City or Tottenham. The funds raised would enable Andoni Iraola's side to bridge a £45 million gap with PSG to complete a record deal for 23-year-old winger Bradley Barcola, who is valued at £145 million by the Parisians.
Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) → Lewis Hall (Newcastle United): A dismal first-half performance against Hull City (0-2) has exposed the Red Devils' issues on the left side of defence. Selling Rashford, 28, to Chelsea for £40 million would aid Michael Carrick in financing the acquisition of 21-year-old Lewis Hall from Newcastle, with the Magpies asking for £70 million.
Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) → Julian Alvarez (Atletico Madrid): The 25-year-old Brazilian winger is nearing a move to Saudi club Al-Hilal for £50 million. This income will allow the Gunners to finalise their summer target, the 26-year-old forward Julian Alvarez, for £128 million (around €150-160 million), especially amidst fan discontent towards the Atleti hierarchy.
Nico Gonzalez (Manchester City) → Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea): The Citizens look set to recoup the £50 million spent on the 24-year-old Argentine by selling him to Newcastle. The extra cash is earmarked to establish a new British transfer record to secure Chelsea's 25-year-old midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea) → Marcus Rashford (Manchester United): The Blues are inclined to offload the 25-year-old Senegalese for £65 million to Aston Villa, who are seeking a replacement for Ollie Watkins before his move to Saudi Arabia. The profit could be immediately reinvested in Rashford, costing the Reds £40 million.
Richarlison (Tottenham) → Omar Marmoush (Manchester City): Following a humiliating 0-3 defeat to Brentford, Roberto De Zerbi is under pressure to reform his attacking line-up. Selling the 29-year-old Brazilian at a loss could help fund the acquisition of 27-year-old forward Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, following Savio’s recent transfer.
