15-Second Brief
Arsenal claimed a comeback victory over Leeds (2-1) after initially trailing from James Justin's goal. Alan Shirer criticised the Gunners’ passive first-half display but praised Bruno Guimaraes' impact after he came on, helping his team secure all three points.

Arsenal secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Leeds, turning the tide in the second half. Former England striker Alan Shirer believes the introduction of Bruno Guimaraes was pivotal in the match.

Daniel Farke’s side put up a significant fight against the Gunners at the Emirates, taking the lead in the 55th minute thanks to a goal from James Justin.

However, Arsenal quickly restored parity with a strike from Riccardo Calafiori, and it was Guimaraes who netted the winner in the 70th minute.

After the match, Shirer expressed his disappointment with Arsenal’s performance before the break.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, he said:

In the first half, Arsenal were too slow, passive, and lacklustre. There were far too many sideways passes and not enough incisiveness.

Shirer noted that the game changed with Guimaraes’ entrance, as the Brazilian injected pace into the midfield and helped facilitate the ball's progression.

He remarked:

In the second half, Arsenal moved the ball much better. When Bruno came on, the game got quicker, and then he scored a fantastic goal. Declan Rice also had a stellar second half, in my opinion.

This defeat marked Leeds' first loss of the current campaign. Farke's team refused to sit back against the reigning champions and caused plenty of problems for the hosts.

Nevertheless, the visitors couldn’t maintain their advantage. After going ahead, Leeds conceded an equaliser quickly and then allowed Arsenal to take the lead.

Despite the result, Leeds' performance as a Premier League newcomer demonstrated their ability to compete against the league’s strongest teams.

Arsenal, on the other hand, claimed all three points thanks to effective changes during the game. According to Shirer, Guimaraes’ introduction was the key moment that decided the match.
