Sergio Aguero has hailed Cole Palmer's form, naming him Chelsea's best player. The legendary forward also analysed the summer transfers for Xabi Alonso's team, highlighting serious defensive issues.

Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has praised Cole Palmer's form, asserting that he is currently Chelsea's standout player.

This season, the talented midfielder has already notched up four goals and provided two assists in just seven matches. Palmer made the move to London earlier this year for £40 million, seeking more game time after struggling to secure a place under Pep Guardiola.

Aguero believes this transfer was crucial for Palmer's development, confidently stating that he is the best player in the Chelsea squad at the moment.

The forward elaborated on why Palmer is flourishing under Xabi Alonso, even though the Blues currently sit in a disappointing 10th place in the league table.

Chelsea are a threat. I played with Cole Palmer, and I really like him as a player. I find him incredible. When I was there, he had limited opportunities at City due to the wealth of top players in form. His move to Chelsea has been beneficial because he needed game time. In my opinion, he is Chelsea's best player today. He can score or assist at any moment and make a difference.

The London club has splashed nearly £350 million on new signings, including Morgan Rogers, Joao Pedro, Emiliano Martinez, and Valentin Barco. While Aguero expressed his support for compatriots Martinez and Barco, he also warned of potential challenges ahead.

Palmer, Joao Pedro, and Morgan Rogers are good players, but even with a strong attacking trio, if the team's midfield or defence is weak, forwards might score three goals and still lose 4-3. To sustain an attacking trio that is, as you know, very good, you also need a solid structure behind them, so the team suffers less. Barcelona had this when their attacking trio was at its peak, as did Real Madrid and City. But behind them, you need a team capable of holding onto an advantage once you've scored.

This coming weekend, Chelsea will seek to prove their worth after their harsh 3-0 loss to Brentford. Xabi Alonso's side will welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge in a bid to rectify their defensive woes.
