Manchester City midfielder Rodri has expressed his frustrations regarding his botched transfer to Barcelona. As he readied to return to England, the Spanish international voiced his discontent with Barcelona’s failure to satisfy City’s financial asks, alongside comments about the repercussions of Enzo Fernandez's failed switch on his own prospects.
Rodri disclosed that he had turned down an offer from Real Madrid in favour of a switch to Catalonia:
I waited for Barcelona for over two weeks. Even though Real Madrid came in for me, I turned them down because I was holding out for a team that fits my playing style perfectly — that is, Barcelona. Now, with Manchester City not signing Enzo Fernandez, there’s a strong chance I’ll stay at Man City for another season.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t meet Manchester City’s demands, and I’m extremely unhappy with this situation. I could have been at Real by now, but I chose Barcelona because I truly believed my style of play would suit them best.
