Tottenham are maintaining a keen interest in signing Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo, while also moving forward in negotiations for Manchester City's Savinho.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi is adamant about strengthening the team’s attacking line ahead of the new season, with the aim of improving the quality of play on the flanks.
The transfer of the 27-year-old Dutchman to North London hinges on Liverpool's success in the transfer market:
- Sale Condition: Liverpool will not let Gakpo leave until they secure the signing of a winger, either Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain or Ibrahima Mbaye.
- Deal Complexity: Negotiations for Barcola are proving difficult due to the high price tag on the Frenchman. However, the potential arrival of new attacking players at the Paris club increases the chances of a successful transfer.
- Current Status: Liverpool have yet to give the green light for talks, as they are reluctant to deplete their wing options.
While Gakpo's situation remains on hold, Tottenham have made significant progress regarding Savinho. The Brazilian has already informed Manchester City of his desire to switch clubs, and the Londoners are ready to invest a hefty sum to secure his signature.
Interest in Gakpo has also emerged from Newcastle and Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians have dropped out of the race, while the Magpies have been deterred by Liverpool's asking price.
