Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Manchester United should seriously consider a move for Ollie Watkins. The forward's future at Aston Villa appears uncertain, particularly with reported interest from Al-Hilal.
Following United's disappointing 0-2 defeat to Hull City, Ferdinand highlighted the importance of Benjamin Sesko, but he feels the team could benefit from adding another experienced forward:
Benjamin Sesko is very important, especially in matches like these. The team needs him, and I'm keen to see how he performs this season.
The main question is whether United's budget allows them to go out and sign Watkins or someone similar. They should definitely fight to bring him in.
If Danny Welbeck had been available, which is clearly the case, Manchester United should have made a move for him. Even at this stage of his career, he could play a crucial role, being comfortable with not always starting.
Watkins was left out of Aston Villa's squad for their match against Brighton, and Unai Emery has previously confirmed that the club has received offers for the striker, leaving the door open for a potential exit before the transfer window closes.
Ferdinand, however, does not view United as title challengers this season, labeling a top-four finish as a realistic target.
