Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori was quick to express his gratitude to his teammates after netting the opener just a minute into the Community Shield clash with Manchester City, which the Gunners won 3-0.
The Italian footballer highlighted the team mentality and praised his colleagues for their efforts:
“It was an incredibly important match and a serious test for us. We needed to show our mentality following last season.
The feeling was amazing! Scoring such an early goal really gives the whole team a boost. I always try to offer solutions for my teammates on the pitch. Miles Lewis-Skelly’s assist was simply incredible — he delivered a perfect pass. This goal was 70% his doing and 30% mine.
Kristos Tsolis was one of the best on the pitch today. A performance of that quality is truly close to perfection.”
