Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has thrown a curveball at Arsenal’s hierarchy with his latest advice. The former midfielder believes the Gunners should consider offloading Spanish midfielder Martin Subimendi to pave the way for talented 20-year-old Miles Lewis-Skelly.
Despite a solid debut season in England, Subimendi showed signs of fatigue by the end of a demanding campaign, ranking third for minutes played behind only David Raya and Declan Rice. His absence was clearly felt during key fixtures in May against Fulham and West Ham, as well as in the Champions League semi-finals against Atletico and the final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest, with Lewis-Skelly stepping in effectively.
Speaking on the podcast The Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes emphasized:
I favour Miles Lewis-Skelly in the centre of midfield over Subimendi. I think Subimendi struggled last year. If there’s one player Arsenal should think about selling, it’s him - Martin Subimendi.
