Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has given insight into the future of striker Omar Marmush after the player netted a brace in a 3-1 pre-season friendly win over Atletico in Seoul.
Marmush joined City in January 2025, but he finds himself facing stiff competition for a starting spot, with Erling Haaland continuing to lead the line as the undisputed first-choice striker.

- Playing time: Maresca emphasised that players train every day and aspire to play, hence, a lack of game time can lead to dissatisfaction.
- Decision rests with the player: According to the manager, Marmush desires more minutes on the pitch. While City is open to the possibility of his role changing, the final decision lies with the Egyptian striker.
Maresca stated:
The answer should be similar to what I said about James Trafford. Omar didn’t play much last year, so his wish is to get more minutes. That doesn’t mean he won’t play here, but this is his decision, and he needs to figure that out.

With just over three weeks until the transfer window closes, reports suggest that Tottenham are showing a concrete interest in the 27-year-old forward.
