Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard expressed his delight after clinching the FA Community Shield, marking a significant milestone with the debut of new players and his first goal since December.
The Norwegian midfielder praised the teamwork and integration of the summer signings:
'We wanted to start our journey here - with the first trophy. We showcased amazing football, delivered a great performance, and entered the season excellently, so we’ll carry on like this.
It was important for everyone to see our level. We proved we are ready, we’re serious about repeating past successes, and we want to challenge for more trophies. We are well prepared for the season.'
On scoring his first goal since December, he commented:
'I always strive to help the team with goals, assists, and combined play. I want to score more, and a goal at the start like this is an excellent foundation.'
Discussing the partnership with Bruno Guimaraes and the impact of new signings:
'Bruno is simply incredible from the very first second. He feels like an organic part of the team right from the start, even though we've had some fierce battles on the pitch in the past.
His class is evident immediately: he works wonderfully with the ball and is a real fighter, winning tackles with determination. That’s a massive plus for us.
Christos Zolis on the left flank was also magnificent today: he provided two assists and delivered a powerful performance. Every single player was at their best today.'
