Swedish midfielder Lukas Bergvall has signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham. Interestingly, just three months ago, the 20-year-old Scandinavian talent openly asked the hierarchy to let him leave for another club due to a lack of playing time after Roberto De Zerbi joined at the end of the last season.
During the summer, a fierce transfer tussle unfolded around Bergvall, with Aston Villa and Chelsea both showing interest. Tottenham's bosses firmly rejected a £38 million offer from Nottingham Forest, but tensions have now eased.
The young Swedish sensation expressed his excitement over the new deal:

Manager Roberto De Zerbi highlighted the club's duty to help the player fully realise his potential:

However, by the end of the season, Lukas will play an important role in many matches. His best football is yet to come, and we want to provide him with the platform to unleash his potential.
In stark contrast, the situation surrounding 29-year-old Brazilian forward Richarlison is escalating. The striker has clashed with the hierarchy after a move to Everton fell through on deadline day, resulting in his exclusion from the Premier League squad. Richarlison is pushing for an early termination of his contract, which runs until next summer, though the club holds an option for an automatic one-year extension.
During a press conference, De Zerbi refrained from delving into the details of the controversy:
I don’t know what will happen next. That’s not my job. I can only say that I know what the club has done for Richarlison, and I also know what Richarlison has done for the club over the past month or two.
