15-Second Brief
Liverpool are preparing a £40 million offer for 17-year-old midfielder Hilberto Mora from Tijuana, while the Mexican club aims to retain a share of the player.

Liverpool are setting their sights on 17-year-old midfielder Hilberto Mora from Tijuana, with sources indicating that the club is preparing to table a £40 million bid (approximately €47 million) to beat competitors to the punch for one of Mexico's most exciting prospects.

The interest in Mora isn't limited to Liverpool, as clubs from both the Premier League and La Liga have also taken note of the young talent. Tijuana's hierarchy has placed a minimum valuation of £30 million on Mora and they wish to retain a stake in the player, anticipating additional compensation from a future transfer.

Mora caught the spotlight recently by scoring in Mexico's 1-1 draw with Colombia, making history as the youngest goalscorer for the national team. This achievement has further bolstered his reputation, having already earned acclaim for his performances in the Mexican league. European clubs are now watching his development closely.

According to sources, Tijuana is firmly looking for no less than £30 million for Mora while retaining some rights to the player to benefit from his eventual transfer. A move to Europe could be on the cards as early as summer 2027. However, discussions are currently centred around Liverpool's interest and potential offer, rather than a completed deal.

Despite the surging interest in the young midfielder, there are calls within the Mexican national setup for a measured approach to his development. National team head coach Rafael Marquez reminded everyone that Mora still has a long way to go.

“He hasn’t achieved anything yet,” Marquez stressed, highlighting the importance of consistent game time for the midfielder's growth.
