Liverpool are weighing up the possibility of bringing back their former academy star Tyler Morton, who was sold to Lyon in the summer of 2025. The Merseysiders have reportedly reassessed their view of the 23-year-old midfielder following his impressive performances in France.
Born in Merseyside, Morton progressed through Liverpool’s academy and made his first-team debut in 2021 under Jurgen Klopp. He later had loan spells at Blackburn and Hull City.
However, he struggled to cement his place at Anfield, making just 14 appearances for the senior side. A move to Lyon has allowed Morton to gain the invaluable experience he needed, featuring in 43 matches last season and clocking up 3,491 minutes on the pitch. In the current campaign, he has already amassed 792 minutes across ten games.
His performances have piqued the interest of Juventus, who are on the lookout for a young yet experienced midfielder and are keeping tabs on Morton. However, no concrete talks have taken place so far.
Now, Liverpool might enter the race to reclaim their former prospect. Reports suggest the club regrets parting ways with Morton and are reconsidering a move to bring him back to Anfield.
This transfer is likely to cost significantly more than the fee Liverpool received from Lyon in 2025, with specifics on the price remaining undisclosed but Morton’s market value having notably risen since his move to France.
