15-Second Brief
Liverpool are disillusioned with Florian Wirtz's poor performances and are considering a transfer for Michael Olise. Bayern want to set the release clause for the Frenchman at €200 million but are prepared to buy Wirtz if he moves on.

Liverpool are facing a pressing dilemma with Florian Wirtz. The German midfielder arrived at the club in the summer of 2025 for a staggering £116 million, yet he has failed to deliver on the expectations at Anfield.

The 23-year-old’s struggles are carrying into his second season. Fans have increasingly voiced their frustrations over his inconsistent performances. He needs time to establish himself as a key figure under new manager Andoni Iraola, but the club’s patience is not infinite.

If Wirtz doesn’t start contributing with goals and assists, Liverpool are eyeing a potential move for Michael Olise from Bayern Munich. The French midfielder has caught the eye with two stunning goals for his national team in the Nations League, significantly increasing his market value since his transfer from Crystal Palace.

Bayern Munich are keen to extend Olise’s contract, which currently runs until 2029, with the club reportedly willing to offer him €25 million a year, matching that of Harry Kane. According to BILD, the new deal could include staggering release clauses.

In Olise’s case, should he extend his contract until 2032, a fee exceeding €200 million could become a very realistic figure. Both Real Madrid and Liverpool continue to monitor his situation closely. Such a hefty price tag would give Bayern Munich security, ensuring they can secure a top replacement in the event of an early exit.

The report also suggests that Bayern are mulling over a potential player swap. If Olise goes to the Premier League, they might seek to bring Wirtz back, a player they missed out on in 2025.

It’s worth noting that Liverpool have already paid Bayer Leverkusen €125 million for Wirtz in the summer of 2025, edging out Bayern in their pursuit. If Olise does end up being sold, Wirtz, who continues to have a tough time at Liverpool, could once again emerge as a target for Bayern.
