Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola believes his team is starting to grasp his tactics.
On Tuesday, the Reds triumphed over Tottenham with a 3-1 victory in the League Cup.
Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo provided Liverpool with a two-goal cushion. However, Connor Gallagher clawed one back for Tottenham, making for a tense final 20 minutes.
Dominik Szoboszlai came off the bench to ensure the victory, scoring a sensational long-range strike in stoppage time to send his side into the fourth round.
After the match, Iraola spoke to ITV Sport, praising his players.
I think the game had completely different phases. We applied a lot of pressure and took the lead, but as soon as we went ahead, they got close to our areas, especially on set pieces, where we struggled. I felt we were good. Today, I sensed the team during the good periods; there was energy, and everyone was pushing forward. It was close to the version of us we want to see.
This weekend, the manager will return to Bournemouth.
I know the game will be very challenging. You see how few they lose in a season, and it's tough going there. To win, you really have to play well.
