Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has praised his team's energy after a convincing 3-1 victory over Tottenham in the League Cup.
The match at Anfield marked yet another disappointing chapter for the North London side, who continued to struggle early in the season. The goals for the Merseysiders came from Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Dominic Soboslai.
With this victory, Liverpool progress to the fourth round of the tournament. Iraola expressed his delight with his players' performance and shared his thoughts in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live.
I'm pleased with our performance. There were different phases in the match, but overall, I liked our energy. We scored, and I'm happy to say we've advanced to the next round.
At 2-0, they had to take risks and reclaim territory. We defended well but conceded too many set pieces, and when they scored, it put us under pressure. Fortunately, we found a way to net a third and see the game through.
Iraola had special praise for Dominic Soboslai, focusing on his crucial goal.
When Dom is about to shoot, there's always a chance he’ll score. You believe in him because he’s done it before. He's an excellent finisher.
Additionally, the manager highlighted Andy Robertson's efforts.
I think he deserves all the credit, and I was happy for him. He’s worked so hard for Liverpool, and he truly deserves it.
