Liverpool have begun work on an unexpected transfer, expressing interest in Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye.
With Mohamed Salah's departure and Hugo Ekitike's injury, manager Andoni Iraola is seeking reinforcement in attack.
Among the primary targets for the Reds are Bradley Barcola from PSG and Ibrahima Mbaye. However, no official agreements have been reached yet.
Caught Offside reports that Liverpool have been in contact with Ndiaye’s representatives.
"Interestingly, industry sources confirm that Liverpool's interest in Ndiaye is genuine, even though it is rare for the Reds to do business with their Merseyside rivals," the outlet notes.
"This could indicate some concern from Liverpool regarding securing a deal for Barcola, or their interest may primarily serve to put pressure on PSG to lower their asking price for a player who they know wants to leave."
"While I can't confirm the motives behind this, I’ve been told that Liverpool are one of the clubs directly negotiating with Ndiaye's circle, so there is a good chance this could evolve into something more concrete."
Everton are expected to demand around £75 million for their player, a figure that could rise given the fierce rivalry between the clubs.
