Manchester United defender Leni Yoro has received his first call-up to the France senior national team. The 20-year-old player steps in for Ibrahim Konate, who has withdrawn from the squad due to knee problems.
Yoro's opportunity comes at the start of Zinedine Zidane's tenure as head coach. On Friday, France will play their first match under the new management — facing Turkey in the Nations League.
This season, Yoro has struggled to secure regular minutes with United, battling for a spot in central defence alongside Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire.
In the national team, he will have to compete against defenders such as Jeremy Jacquet, Pierre Kalulu, Jules Kounde, Maxence Lacroix, Adrien Truffert, and Dayot Upamecano.
Following the clash with Turkey, France will travel to Belgium, and in October, they will host Italy before meeting Belgium again.
This marks France's first international cycle since the 2026 World Cup, where they finished in fourth place. Now, they embark on a new chapter under Zidane's guidance.
