Everton's Jordan Pickford has shared his thoughts following the team's narrow 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
The only goal of the match came in the 11th minute from Tierney Barry, and Everton managed to hold on to that slim lead until the final whistle.
Pickford acknowledged that the team was braced for a tough encounter, especially after Ipswich was reduced to ten men:
“It was a great way to end the week. It was always going to be hard, especially after they went down to ten. We were expected to win, and that's what we achieved.”
The goalkeeper also took the time to commend Tierney Barry for his contributions, particularly for securing the three points for Everton:
“He works really hard, and the goals will come because of that effort. The first season in the Premier League is always tough. He’s settled in now and is starting the season much better this year.”
For Barry, this goal marked a significant milestone early in the season, helping Everton to secure a clean sheet.
Pickford stressed the importance of the victory ahead of the international break and highlighted the team's gradual improvement:
“It’s always nice to finish a spell with a win, especially before a long international break. We need to keep working hard — that’s the Everton way. We’re picking up momentum and will be focused and ready when we return.”
