Midfielder Wataru Endo did not feature for Liverpool in their goalless draw against Fulham.
The Reds' head coach, Andoni Iraola, shed light on the absence of the Japanese international from the pitch.
I think Wataru missed quite a bit of the pre-season. He’s still not in the best shape, but he’s training very well.
The challenge for him is the number of players I have ahead of him in that position. He’s up against a lot of competition, as we’re also giving minutes to Ryan, Alexis, and Dom, among others, who are currently my preferred choices.
But Wataru is definitely a player I like, and he will surely have his moments.
Endo has yet to step onto the pitch this season, but he is expected to see action in the upcoming League Cup match against Tottenham.
