Gary Neville believes Manchester City owners could lose control of the club if the guilty verdict stands in the appeal.

According to Sky Sports, Gary Neville believes the owners of Manchester City could face serious challenges in retaining control of the club if the Premier League's guilty verdict regarding financial violations is upheld during the appeal.

On 2nd October, Manchester City lodged an official appeal after an independent commission found the club guilty of serious financial rule breaches over nine seasons from 2009 to 2018.

Neville asserts that the Premier League should first implement the owners and directors test before deciding whether to nullify the club's achievements during this period.

The only appropriate punishment is primarily to apply the owners and directors test, said Neville.

The club vehemently denies all allegations and maintains its innocence as the appeal process officially commences.
