Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has admitted that the loss to PSG in the Champions League final has become a significant source of motivation going into the new season.
In the decisive match in Budapest, Gabriel missed his penalty in the shootout, which dashed the hopes of the Gunners for a historic European triumph after their Premier League success.
Despite the disappointment, Gabriel insists it has only made the squad more determined.
“Especially for me, losing in the Champions League final was a motivator, and of course, we want to win every trophy,” Gabriel said in an interview with TNT Sports.
“But we understand the process, and I am motivated to push forward and win as many trophies as possible,” he added.
This season, Arsenal are aiming for five titles and are prepared to fight for each one.
“The way we want to win again, of course, we have five trophies we are playing for, and we are going after them,” the defender highlighted.
“We know how hard it is to win the league, how difficult it is to win the Champions League and the Premier League, and I think winning any trophy is tough, but we are confident we can do it,” Gabriel emphasised.
The first opportunity to secure silverware comes today with the Community Shield clash against Manchester City in Cardiff, marking the beginning of a new era under Enzo Maresca.
“We know this is a big game and involves two great teams, so we want to win every trophy, and on Sunday we will be going for it,” the Brazilian stated.
The 28-year-old also acknowledged that there is still room for growth within the team.
“There is still plenty for us to improve, but a lot also needs to remain stable. I know there are certain things within myself that I can enhance,” he concluded.
When asked to describe Arsenal's mentality this season in one word, Gabriel responded:
“Passion.”
