Germany midfielder Florian Wirtz has opened up about his conversations with newly appointed national team manager Jurgen Klopp. The young talent is hopeful that under Klopp, who previously managed Liverpool, the team will progress positively.
“Yes, of course, we spoke, and he wants me to play the style of football everyone is used to seeing from me,” Wirtz said.
“We’ve had a few discussions, and he’s given me aspects to work on and implement. I’m glad he took the time to speak with me. Everything is definitely moving in the right direction under Klopp.”
Wirtz highlighted the importance of space for him to showcase his best qualities, even joking about it. He also took a moment to thank Maximilian Mittelstadt for his assist in the match against Serbia. Wirtz’s debut under Klopp was a triumphant one, as he scored a goal, helped secure a 2-0 victory, and was named Man of the Match.
