Erling Haaland is suing Norwegian Air Shuttle for using his hairstyle in promotional posts without permission after the 2026 World Cup.

Erling Haaland has filed a lawsuit against Norwegian airline Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA for the unauthorised commercial use of his signature hairstyle in promotional content.

Following a stellar performance by the Norway national team at the 2026 World Cup, where the striker netted seven goals and guided his side to the quarter-finals, the airline shared a social media post featuring an image of one of their planes styled after Haaland’s distinctive long hair tied up in a knot. The post was captioned:

We've never looked more Norwegian.

The player's interests are being represented by the law firm Schjodt in collaboration with British company York Promotions Ltd, who have submitted an official claim to the Oslo District Court. Such actions reportedly violate Norwegian marketing laws and personal rights legislation by unlawfully using elements of the player's trademark. Airline representative Eivind Hammer Mivre expressed regret over the legal dispute, hoping for a reasonable dialogue moving forward.

Court hearings are set to commence on October 9, when a final verdict will be delivered.
