Argentinian midfielder Enzo Fernandez scored his debut goal for Manchester City just days after his record move from Chelsea for £125 million. The star newcomer found the net against Sunderland with a stunning free-kick.
Fernandez opened the scoring in the ninth minute of the match. Taking a set piece from the right flank near the edge of the penalty area, he expertly curled the ball into the bottom corner, catching Sunderland's goalkeeper Robin Rufs off guard.
The midfielder joined the reigning vice-champions on transfer deadline day. Last season with Chelsea, he featured in 50 matches across all competitions, notching 13 goals and providing six assists. In the current campaign, he managed one appearance for the London club before reuniting with Enzo Maresca in Manchester.
The clash against Sunderland marked Fernandez’s fifth appearance in the Manchester City shirt. Previously, he had participated in matches against Fulham, Coventry City, Porto, and Manchester United.
