The perfect winning streak under Mikel Arteta was abruptly halted on the south coast as the Seagulls delivered a masterclass, comfortably dismantling the Londoners with three unanswered goals.
In a post-match interview, the Brazilian midfielder didn’t hold back in his criticism:
We are incredibly disappointed. We need to learn from the mistakes we made because we were nowhere near our usual level. We were far too careless with the ball and lost every battle. As the reigning champions, we cannot play like this. This can’t happen again. It’s a crucial lesson for us. Up until this point, we were on an excellent course, winning every match, but we need to forget this game and improve quickly. It was a horrific day for all of us, and we owe an apology to our fans for showing such a poor performance.
