England suffered a home defeat to reigning world champions Spain, losing 2-3 in an exhilarating Nations League match at Wembley Stadium.
It took just 107 seconds for Spain to take the lead. An error from Marc Guehi allowed Lamine Yamal to seize upon the loose ball, charging into the box and slotting it past James Trafford.
The hosts responded quickly, with Anthony Gordon finishing off a superb counter-attack after some clever interplay with Jude Bellingham. Just three minutes later, Harry Kane headed home from a delivery, with the ball ricocheting off the chest of Marc Cucurella and into the back of the net.
At the start of the second half, England had a chance to extend their lead when Rodri fouled Bellingham in the box. However, Kane slipped during the penalty and struck the crossbar.
The miss proved costly for England as Nico O'Riley lost possession, leading to a goal from substitute Alex Baena. Shortly after, Mikel Oyarzabal latched onto Baena's cross, deftly lifting the ball over Trafford to seal the win for Spain.
Thomas Tuchel's men pushed for an equaliser in added time, but Spain maintained control and secured the three points at the start of League A.
