Tottenham's manager, Roberto De Zerbi, revealed he kissed Rodrigo Bentancur in the dressing room following the midfielder's red card during the clash with Manchester United.
The encounter at Old Trafford ended in a 1-1 draw. Brian Mbemo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 73rd minute, shortly before Bentancur received his marching orders for headbutting Luke Shaw.
Despite being a man down, Tottenham fought on and snatched a late equaliser through Dominic Solanke in stoppage time.
"I kissed Bentancur in the dressing room because we need that kind of reaction — a reaction that shows character," De Zerbi explained in an interview with Sky Sports.
The manager emphasised the importance of his team continuing to battle rather than accepting defeat. He insisted that such grit was essential given the circumstances.
The point earned allowed Tottenham to climb off the foot of the Premier League table, yet the Londoners still find themselves firmly in the relegation zone.
