Former Netherlands striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has shared his thoughts on Brian Brobbey's possible transfer to Manchester United. He argues that such a deal would only make sense under specific conditions related to the team's style of play.
The 24-year-old forward, currently with Sunderland, continues to catch the eye after a hat-trick against Manchester City and three goals for his national team during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The only scenario in which I can see him at Manchester United is if the team becomes truly dominant, holding 60 percent possession and spending 80-85 percent of the match in the opponent's half. Then he would excel. Make no mistake, he is doing a fantastic job at Sunderland. His key strength is retaining the ball and linking up with teammates. If a forward can do that close to the opponent's box, it creates real problems for the defence. Therefore, I only envision such a transfer if United starts to really dictate play.
Currently, Brobbey is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during a Nations League match against Germany, managed by Jurgen Klopp.
In the upcoming round of the Premier League, Sunderland will face Brighton at home, while Michael Carrick's side will host Tottenham, who are languishing at the bottom of the table.
