Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has voiced his thoughts following the 4-2 defeat to Italian outfit Milan in their last pre-season friendly.
“We are disappointed with today’s performance; we didn’t play well, and there are reasons for that. We need to learn from this and improve,” said Carrick.
“No excuses, we simply performed poorly today.”
“Overall, we are ready for next week. These minutes will benefit the lads, as I’ve said, we’ve put in a lot of work on the training field, and our performances in games have been quite promising. So, we remain optimistic heading into next week.”
“The lads will have a day off tomorrow, then it’s five days of training in various modes — sometimes a bit tougher, and sometimes focusing on recovery. This will benefit us, and we’re looking forward to the match against Hull City.”
Manchester United will kick off their Premier League season away from home. They face Hull City on Saturday, August 22.
