Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes fondly recalls his time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Portuguese midfielder joined the English club from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
Since then, the 32-year-old has worked under various managers, currently being led by Michael Carrick. Yet, it’s Solskjaer who holds a special place in his heart.
Currently, Fernandes is with the Portugal national team, who are performing well in the Nations League despite the shocking departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. In their match against Denmark, Bruno contributed two assists, helping his side secure a 4-2 victory.
On Sunday, the Portuguese take on Norway. Ahead of this meeting, Fernandes spoke to reporters about his relationship with the Norwegian Solskjaer.
“Ole was a very important coach for me. He gave me the chance to play for one of the greatest clubs in the world. I was very happy during the time I spent with him. We haven't discussed the match against Norway. We talk about football occasionally, but we haven't had the opportunity to discuss this game. I hope I can send him a message after the match that will be good for me, not for him.”
It’s worth noting that last season, Fernandes was named the Premier League Player of the Season, breaking the record for most assists in the tournament with 21.
