Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has hailed Youri Tielemans' transfer from Aston Villa for £35 million as the best signing of the summer in the Premier League. However, he emphasised that for a genuine title challenge, the Red Devils still need a powerful central striker.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has named Belgium international Youri Tielemans' transfer from Aston Villa for £35 million as the standout signing of the current summer window in the Premier League.

The Red Devils activated the buyout option for the Belgian, while also securing 22-year-old Brazilian Andre Santos from Chelsea for £48 million, bolstering Michael Carrick's midfield.

Ben Foster's comments on talkSPORT.

Regarding Tielemans' transfer:

I still think Youri Tielemans is the best transfer so far. What a fantastic deal! I've seen a lot of transfers, Tottenham have spent big, Arsenal have just splashed the cash, but I still believe Tielemans is the top signing of the summer.

For £35 million, you're getting a ready-made first-team player who can slot right in. If you can spend that kind of money on a starter, it's worth every penny.

On the need for a powerful striker:

I still think Manchester United need a striker, some big lad up front. The problem is, where do you find one? And right now, it’ll cost you £100 million—that's the reality.

On Benjamin Sesko and title chances:

Sesko has all the attributes. The question is whether he can hone those raw qualities... They have a real shot at the title if they add one big man up top. Kobbie Mainoo has something to prove, the defence looks solid, they have a very strong attack, minus that central pillar, plus Tielemans and Santos have joined.

On other positions:

They need a striker, possibly a big centre-back. Matthijs de Ligt is clearly out, and there's a lot of uncertainty around him... They could also use another physical defender and a strong midfielder who can join the attack and score, like Casemiro used to do.
