Aston Villa are making strides in their negotiations with Brugge for the signing of 22-year-old Ecuadorian central defender Joel Ordóñez.

The potential transfer deal is valued at around €35 million to €40 million.

In anticipation of Ordóñez joining, the Birmingham club has also prepared a long-term contract that would run until the summer of 2031. Following a disappointing start to the season and the departure of Ezri Konsa, Villa's hierarchy are keen to push through the signing quickly, hoping to iron out the details soon.
