Mikel Arteta is pleased with Arsenal's summer transfers, having spent over £150 million on players like Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Illan Melier, and a full buy for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Despite these impressive acquisitions, Arsenal are still looking to secure at least one striker and one defender before the transfer window closes.
"I am very happy with the squad, the players I have, and I am very pleased with the club's ambitions. There is no doubt about that," Arteta stated.
The Spaniard stressed that the Gunners shouldn't blindly chase their rivals in the transfer market.
"We have to do it our way. We have strengths, and there are other areas where we need to be very aware because we don’t have the elements or structure that other clubs do," he added.
This summer, Arsenal has missed out on a few targets. Morgan Rogers has moved to Chelsea for £117 million, while Vinicius Junior has extended his contract with Real Madrid.
"Yes, that surprised me. Honestly, I wouldn't have bet on that," the manager admitted regarding the soaring market prices.
"In the end, a player's value is what someone is willing to pay for you, and they did that. So that's value for you," Arteta emphasised.
Arsenal were also linked with Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, but the Argentine seems to be leaning towards a move to Barcelona.
When scouting for new signings, Arteta focuses not only on playing abilities.
"I just want to understand and know the person behind them because that's what makes a player," he said.
"We will do what we think is right. To have the best chance of competing in every tournament, that is for sure," Arteta concluded.
