Arsenal are facing a defensive dilemma as Ezri Konsa has left the England camp due to injury, returning to London for treatment.
The 28-year-old defender played the full 90 minutes in England's defeat to Spain, which ended 3-2, but subsequently missed matches against the Czech Republic and Croatia.
England manager Thomas Tuchel addressed the situation regarding Konsa, revealing that he arrived with some discomfort, which worsened after the match against Spain.
"Ezri felt discomfort when he joined the squad. He played against Spain while in pain, and then it got a bit worse. He stayed with the team and did everything he could to be ready for the Czech Republic match, but there wasn't enough time," Tuchel explained.
Konsa was also keen to play against Croatia and completed training sessions, but picked up another knock to his quadriceps, resulting in a minor injury.
"He took another hit to the quadriceps, which caused a slight injury. We decided not to let him play through the pain any longer, so he left the squad to recover from both injuries," Tuchel added.
Despite the injury, Tuchel does not anticipate a serious issue.
"I don't think it's anything serious, but we shouldn't take risks. It's a bruise, not a muscle injury."
Konsa has featured in three of Arsenal's first five Premier League matches following his summer move from Aston Villa for £50 million. His availability for the upcoming match against Leeds is now in question.
Upon the return of club football, Arsenal will also face Lille, Nottingham Forest, and Bayern Munich in the next two weeks.
On a more positive note for Mikel Arteta's side, Ben White and Cristian Mosquera are back in training, and Jurriën Timber is nearing a return.
