Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah. The London clubs are aiming to bring the 23-year-old back to the Premier League, but face competition from Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Quansah is a product of Liverpool's youth system, making his first-team debut in 2023. He played 58 matches for the Reds before making the switch to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025 for a fee of €35 million.
Since moving to Germany, the defender has enjoyed much more game time. Last season, he made 44 appearances, clocking up 3,704 minutes on the pitch and finding the net five times. His impressive performances earned him a debut for the England national team and a spot at the World Cup.
According to SportBild, Arsenal previously made a substantial attempt to sign Quansah, offering €65 million last summer, only to have the bid turned down by Bayer. However, the Gunners have not lost interest in the player.
Chelsea have also entered the fray, with manager Xabi Alonso keen on securing Quansah's signature. Representatives from the club have reportedly made contact regarding a possible transfer, although it's unclear if discussions involve Bayer, the player's camp, or both parties.
Real Madrid are also keeping a watchful eye on the young defender, sending scouts to assess his performances.
Liverpool retains a special position in this race. When Quansah was sold, they retained a buy-back clause which remains valid until June 15 of next year. This option could become particularly relevant should Virgil van Dijk depart the club.
Quansah's contract with Bayer extends until 2030, but with interest from elite clubs growing, a switch could happen as early as 2027.
