Paris Saint-Germain president and European Club Association (ECA) chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has weighed in on the high-profile case involving Manchester City. The English club was represented at the association's assembly by CEO Ferran Soriano.
Al-Khelaifi stated that it's premature for the organisations to comment on the situation, emphasising the need to wait for a final verdict.
We are not here to judge what has not been definitively resolved. I am not a lawyer. This more concerns the Premier League. City is a valuable asset for us, but we aren't judges and we're not in a position to make a call at this moment. You say they cheated, but they say they didn’t. Let’s wait and see what the court says.
The ECA chairman also made it clear he has no ambitions to replace Gianni Infantino as FIFA president. Alongside this, he expressed his support for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
I'm not at all interested in FIFA. That’s not my goal. I enjoy what I do. I am focused on continuing to develop with the ECA, as you saw today. I want to be positive. As I said, it’s sad to see what’s happening, and we need to be positive if we want to effect change.
