The transfer of 19-year-old American winger Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake to Crystal Palace is currently stalled due to bureaucratic red tape from MLS.
Sky Sports News reporter James Savundra confirmed that the London club is optimistic about finalising the deal ahead of the new season.
The Eagles agreed to purchase the promising winger for around $15 million (£10–11 million) earlier this month. Crystal Palace will kick off their Premier League season this Saturday against Everton.
The delay is purely administrative: MLS operates under a single-entity model, meaning player contracts are owned by the league rather than individual clubs, necessitating additional approvals for international transfers.
Gozo has already finalised contract terms and has been cleared to undergo medical tests in London.
The 19-year-old, who can operate on either flank and as a full-back, enjoyed a strong season in MLS, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists while also participating in the All-Star Game.
