Turkish side Trabzonspor is rapidly approaching one of the most significant transfers in the history of Turkish football.
The club is in active negotiations to sign Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, who is currently a free agent after his contract with the Merseyside club has ended.
The state of negotiations and competition
Change of favourite: For a long time, talks regarding the Egyptian's transfer to the Turkish Super Lig were led by Beşiktaş, but discussions stalled due to financial disagreements, which Trabzonspor has taken advantage of.
Desire to remain in Europe: Despite generous financial offers from Saudi Arabian clubs (notably Al-Ittihad) and interest from MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City, the 34-year-old forward prioritises continuing his career on the European continent.
Financing the deal: Trabzonspor is attracting major commercial sponsors to fully cover the winger's salary demands and signing bonuses.
Salah, who is recuperating after playing for the Egyptian national team in the World Cup, is expected to announce his final decision regarding his future in the coming days.
