Tottenham are keeping a keen eye on 25-year-old attacking midfielder Pavel Schulz from Lyon and the Czech national team, having been interested in him for over a year.
Last summer, Spurs splashed over £300 million on new signings including Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Savinho, and Omar Marmoush. However, despite these hefty financial outlays, the team has struggled, currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table after five matches under Roberto De Zerbi. As the club examines potential new additions ahead of the January transfer window, Schulz has once again emerged as a leading target.
According to reports from Hooligan Soccer, Spurs scouts have been monitoring Schulz since his time at Viktoria Plzen during the 2024/25 season.
Competition for the Czech midfielder is heating up:
- In the Premier League, both Aston Villa and Everton are keeping tabs on the player, while Leeds United have taken decisive action by submitting an official request to Lyon to discuss the terms of a potential deal.
- Beyond England, interest in the midfielder has also been piqued by Torino, Lazio, Como, and Atletico Madrid.
Lyon are not expected to sell their star player on the cheap. Last season, Schulz directly contributed to 21 goals across all competitions, while this campaign he already notched up three assists. The French club has set a firm financial threshold, starting negotiations at €50 million (around £43 million). Provided these financial demands are met, Lyon are open to letting the Czech international leave, either in January or next summer.
