Tottenham's hierarchy, led by Vinai Venkatesham, have expressed confidence in coach Roberto De Zerbi despite the team sitting bottom of the Premier League.

Tottenham's managing director, Vinai Venkatesham, has shown support for head coach Roberto De Zerbi despite a challenging start to the new Premier League season. After five matches, Spurs find themselves at the bottom of the table without a single win, even after spending over £380 million on new signings during the summer.

Speaking at the first Fans’ Advisory Board meeting of the season, Venkatesham stated that the results do not depict the full picture and pointed out glimpses of quality in the team's play following their defeat to Brentford in their opener.

“The club has undergone significant changes this summer, both on and off the pitch, and we recognise that it may take time for these changes to fully take effect,” the managing director remarked.

Major shake-up and financial constraints

This summer, Tottenham brought in ten new players, including Sandro Tonali, Mateusz Fernandes, and Savinho, while parting ways with several experienced individuals such as Guglielmo Vicario, Jed Spence, Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, and Joao Palhinha. Player sales generated approximately £150 million for the club.

Venkatesham also addressed the issue of financial regulations, emphasising that the club needed to be more effective in its sales strategy to comply with the rules, as Spurs have not reported a profit since 2019. The absence of European football and two consecutive 17th-place finishes have severely impacted revenues.
