As the new season approaches, the list of the highest-paid players in the Championship has been released. Topping the charts are West Ham's Jarrod Bowen and Sheffield United's Kalvin Phillips, both commanding £150,000 a week. The list is predominantly filled with players from relegated West Ham.

Despite relegation from the Premier League, the pay packets of certain Championship clubs remain impressive. The financial rankings of the division are dominated by West Ham, whose hefty contracts have become a significant burden for the club.

Leading the charge are Jarrod Bowen and Kalvin Phillips, both raking in £150,000 a week.

Top 10 earners in the Championship

  1. Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) – £150,000 a week. The Hammers' talisman opted to stay with the club to help them bounce back to the top flight, earning the highest wage in the league for his efforts.
  2. Kalvin Phillips (Sheffield United) – £150,000 a week. The 30-year-old midfielder, still contracted to Manchester City, will spend another season on loan at Sheffield. The Blades only cover a portion of his wages.
  3. Aaron Ramsdale (Southampton) – £120,000 a week. The 28-year-old goalkeeper has returned to the Saints after a disappointing loan spell and is currently seeing out the penultimate year of his contract.
  4. Max Kilman (West Ham) – £100,000 a week. The centre-back, who joined from Wolverhampton in 2024, remains one of the highest-paid defenders in the division.
  5. Edson Alvarez (West Ham) – £100,000 a week. The Mexican spent last season at Fenerbahce, but the club is actively seeking buyers with Real Sociedad and Ajax in the mix.
  6. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham) – £90,000 a week. The full-back appears set to leave the club, with Everton and Aston Villa reportedly interested.
  7. Niclas Fullkrug (West Ham) – £90,000 a week. The 33-year-old forward was purchased for £17 million from Borussia Dortmund but struggled to cement a regular spot and has returned from a loan spell at AC Milan.
  8. Tomas Soucek (West Ham) – £90,000 a week. The Czech midfielder is recovering from an ankle injury sustained during the 2026 World Cup against Mexico.
  9. Toti Gomes (Wolverhampton) – £80,000 a week. The Wolves captain made the list thanks to a long-term contract signed at the beginning of 2024.
  10. Jean-Clair Todibo (West Ham) – £80,000 a week. The defender is on the brink of a move, with Marseille, Milan, and Napoli keen on his services.
