Tim Sherwood has backed Liam Delap's likely move from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest. He believes the forward needs consistent playing time and his manager's trust, while Oliver Glasner's style should help him unlock his potential.

Tim Sherwood believes Liam Delap's transfer from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest will benefit the forward.

According to Sherwood, what Delap needs most is regular playing time and the support of his manager.

Speaking on Soccer Special, he stated:

We know what Liam is capable of; he has shown it before. Now he needs to be playing regularly and staying fit.

It just didn’t work out for him at Chelsea. I don’t think he was given enough time on the pitch to gain confidence. For a striker, it’s crucial to feel the trust of the manager and to be on the field every week, even when the game isn’t going their way. I believe he’ll get that with Glasner — we've seen it with Jean-Philippe Mateta at Crystal Palace.

Glasner likes to play with a strong striker and give them the support they need. If Delap can keep up with the team's play, I think he’ll find the back of the net for Nottingham Forest. I genuinely believe he can do it.

He's aggressive and possesses many qualities needed to become a top-level striker. It just didn't happen for him at Chelsea — that’s football.

As for the transfer fee, it’s best not to focus on that, as the sums in the Premier League are just ludicrous these days.
