Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has shared his hopes of being around to see the unveiling of the club's ambitious new stadium, set to accommodate 100,000 fans.
In his new autobiography, Games of My Life, released on Thursday, the 84-year-old Scot reflected on the significant plans for the redevelopment of Old Trafford, prompting deeper philosophical thoughts about life and the passage of time.
Ferguson candidly expressed:
I caught myself wondering if I would be there to celebrate its opening. I hope they start building quickly because if it takes five years, I’ll be approaching my nineties. However, I know I will be present in some form—whether physically or in spirit—when that day finally arrives.
Club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently unveiled the ambitious plan for a cutting-edge sports complex to be built right next to the historic Old Trafford.
During his legendary 26-year reign at Manchester United, Ferguson managed 724 official matches at Old Trafford, leading the team to an impressive 13 Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies.
