Lavia’s time on the sidelines has significantly limited his appearances since joining Chelsea in 2023, where he has only featured in 48 official matches. This call-up marks a crucial moment for the young midfielder, who has only played once for the national team—a friendly against Germany prior to his move to Stamford Bridge.
Now, with a real opportunity to add to his cap tally, Lavia will help the Red Devils in their busy Nations League schedule, which sees them face France in back-to-back encounters, along with matches against Italy and Turkey. Chelsea will also be represented in the squad by goalkeeper Mike Penders.
