Real Madrid has called for Barcelona to be stripped of 28 trophies won between 2001 and 2018 amid allegations of referee bribery. This intervention follows Real's submission of a substantial 50,000-page dossier to UEFA, which includes evidence and witness testimonies regarding payments of €8.4 million made to former vice president of Spain's refereeing technical committee, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.
UEFA has officially confirmed receipt of this "large volume" of documents from the Madrid club, leading to a renewed investigation and a closer examination of the evidence. Previously, Barcelona's hierarchy, including president Joan Laporta, has insisted that the club never bribed referees, claiming the funds were intended for external consultancy services and video reports on young players. However, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin described this situation as "one of the most serious" in football history.
