Chelsea and Liverpool showed interest
According to sources, both Chelsea and Liverpool were among the clubs keen on Asensio. Additionally, there was an offer from a financially strong club in Turkey.
Despite the options to further his career away from Madrid, Asensio opted for continuity at Real Madrid, a place that has been pivotal in his footballing journey.
Yet to feature under Mourinho
However, since the appointment of Jose Mourinho, Asensio has yet to see any first-team action.
The defender joined the senior side after several years in the club's academy, and his current contract runs until June 2031.
Asensio has yet to make his debut for the Spanish national team.
According to Transfermarkt, the market value of the 23-year-old defender is estimated at €20 million.
