Serious sanctions for Manchester City could impact Phil Foden's future. Bayern, Arsenal, Chelsea, and others have expressed prior interest in the midfielder.

Phil Foden's future at Manchester City has unexpectedly come into focus after the Premier League's ruling on financial misconduct. According to TEAMtalk, significant penalties for the club could potentially force some of the team's stars to consider their options.

Although the punishment for City remains undecided and the club continues to deny any wrongdoing while preparing to challenge the ruling, Foden's possible departure is still a hypothetical scenario.

Foden signs contract until 2030

The 26-year-old midfielder is a product of City's academy, hailing from Stockport, and is one of the club's most recognisable assets.

This summer, he signed a new deal that runs until 2030, highlighting his importance to the team.

However, TEAMtalk also points out that any heavy sanctions against City could drastically alter the landscape. Should the club face serious sporting and financial repercussions, selling several first-team players, including Foden, might become one way to address their challenges.

In this scenario, Foden would be one of the most attractive options on the market, although his homegrown status and longstanding connection with the club would make such a move especially tricky.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham already shown interest

According to TEAMtalk, even before Foden extended his contract, he attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

Potential suitors included Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham. However, these pursuits did not materialise in a transfer, as Manchester City successfully negotiated a new long-term agreement with the player.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich has been keeping a close eye on the situation, with TEAMtalk suggesting that the German giants would consider a transfer for Foden if circumstances at City truly render him available.

Bayern and other European options

In addition to Bayern, Milan had previously expressed interest in a potential transfer for Foden. Clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown interest during uncertain times surrounding the midfielder.

Foden was also linked with Real Madrid; however, TEAMtalk emphasises that there has been no fresh official interest from the Spanish side.

If City were indeed to face relegation and a major squad overhaul became necessary, the most logical options for Foden would be clubs capable of offering him a high level of football and Champions League participation.
