Chelsea are reportedly valuing Pedro Neto at around £100 million, nearly double the £51.4 million they shelled out to sign him from Wolverhampton.
However, pre-season preparations have suggested that the Portuguese winger may struggle to secure a starting spot, with the likes of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Estevao Willian, and possibly even Enzo Fernandez vying for attacking positions. If his role on the pitch diminishes, it's inevitable that Neto's market value will decline come next summer.
Nevertheless, the club's tour of Australia and Asia has unveiled an intriguing prospect. Head coach Xabi Alonso appears to favour deploying Neto as an attacking right wing-back in a 3-4-2-1 formation, while Marco Palese has shifted to the left flank.
It remains unclear whether Neto himself will be on board with a permanent repositioning. That said, Victor Moses' successful transformation into a wing-back under Antonio Conte during the 2016/17 season stands as an inspiring precedent in Chelsea's recent history.
